Overview
- First Aid is a universal term used by many organizations who provide emergency training to the public including the American Heart Association and the American Red Cross.
- First Aid is the initial basic treatment of an injured or ill person.
- First Aid is provided to a victim immediately after an accident or onset of illness.
- First Aid requires an observer to identify an injury or illness and then to intervene using a small amount of supplies.
- First Aid is meant to decrease complications and to provide emotional and physical comfort to the victim. It is provided to decrease a victim’s pain and suffering until more qualified medical personnel arrive on the scene.
